Should We Lower The Voting Age To 16 For Federal Elections?
Speaker Nancy Pelosi endorsed the idea of lowering the voting age to 16 after it was suggested by Democrat colleague Rep. Ayanna Pressley.
She said: “I myself personally — I’m not speaking for my caucus, I myself have always been for lowering the voter — the voting age to 16. I think it’s really important to capture kids when they’re in high school, when they’re interested in all of this, when they’re learning about government to be able to vote. … But my view is that I would welcome that. But I had been in that position for a long time.”
If your a 16-year-old or 17-year-old and contributing to society then why shouldn’t you be able to vote? That’s the argument to get this passed but many people against the idea started posting what they got in trouble for at that age. Some of the tweets are hilarious…
