Texting And Driving Is Now A Primary Offense But There’s A Loophole To Get Out Of It!!!
Put down your phones while driving because starting July 1, police in Florida have the right to pull you over if they see you texting while driving.
A law was passed earlier this year which makes it a primary offense but there are some loopholes to get out of it! An officer can pull you over for texting and driving but they must have PROOF! Long story short, police have to ask to see your phone but you can refuse to let them see it.
Here’s the loophole!!! The officer has to read you your rights before getting your phone and they have to specifically ask you to hand over the phone. If you refuse (which you’re allowed to do) the officer must end the traffic stop and let the person go.
Also, technically you ARE allowed to be on your phone while driving but only for certain things like getting weather alerts, using your GPS.
