A thick cloud of dust known as the Saharan Desert Layer is traveling from North Africa toward the U.S. right now. The earliest effects in Florida could be seen as early as today.
The Saharan Desert Layer travels across the Atlantic Ocean between spring and fall every year, but experts have called this one the “Godzilla dust cloud” due to its massive size and concentration that hasn’t been seen in 50 years. People are advised to stay indoors and use air filters if they have one.
