Mississippi state legislature voted on Sunday to change their state flag. Mississippi is the last state to still include the Confederate emblem.
Mississippians will vote on a new flag this November, but the current design will not be on option on the ballot. Residents had previously been resistant to changing the state flag arguing that it is a part of the state’s history. However, activists argue that the Confederate flag is used as a symbol of racism and white supremacy.
