Tampa Bay Roads To Be Renamed In Honor Of Police Officers Who Were Killed In The Line Of Duty
Hillsborough County officials will vote and are expected to pass a resolution that will rename some Tampa Bay roads after police officers who were killed in the line of duty. Sergeant Brian VaVigne, who was killed earlier this year in Brandon, will have State Road 60 between I-75 and Phillip Lee Boulevard renamed after him.
Tampa Police Officer, Jesse Madsen, who was killed in March trying to stop a wrong way driver on I-275, will have I-275 between Sligh Avenue and MLK Boulevard in Tampa renamed after him.
Pinellas County is working on having a road renamed for Deputy Michael Magli, who was the first deputy to ever be killed in the line of duty with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in its history. C.R. 611/E. Lake Road between Forelock Road and Keystone Road will be renamed “Deputy Michael J. Magli Memorial Road”.
