Suspect, Accused Of Robbing 2 Children At Gunpoint Was Shot By St. Pete Officer
St. Pete Police shot a teen, who was suspected of robbing two children at gunpoint, during an unrelated incident. He was suspected of domestic violence when someone called 911 to report a man with a gun arguing with a woman and trying to take her phone.
17-year-old Christopher Tonsel then ran after police showed up. A K-9 officer who was nearby got out of his vehicle to help track the suspect down. That when he saw the teen run between two homes trying to hide.

Sheriff Gualtieri explained that the teen had a gun in his waistband and after many verbal commands to drop the weapon he reached for it. That’s when the officer fired one shot hitting him in the torso.
Earlier, the teen was suspect in an armed robbery on Sunday, October 17, where a 10 and a 15-year-old were robbed at gunpoint.
