Cracker Barrel Ordered To Pay 9.4 Million To Customer Served Glass With Chemical
A jury has ordered Cracker Barrel to pay a man $9.4 million after a server gave a man a glass filled with a cleaning chemical instead of water. Unfortunately, because there’s a cap on damages in Tennessee he’ll get far less.
It was determined that William Cronnon won his case against Cracker Barrel because his mouth and esophagus were severally burned during a visit to the restaurant back in 2014. The jury found that he should get $4.3 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
Sadly, Cronnon will only receive $750,000 due to a legal limit on economic damages.
So, how did Cronnon developed gastrointestinal issues? Well, after the waitress accidentally gave him the water glass that was “a mixture of water and Eco-San – a commercial grade bleach” he went to the ER and experienced “permanent and serious internal physical injury” which he’s still dealing with today.
