Humane Society Director Took $1.5M From Shelter & Spent Money On Plastic Surgery, Boats, Cars & More
The former director of the Hernando County animal shelter is facing serious charges after she allegedly stole $1.5 million from the shelter.
Susana Maria Arneson and Douglas Paul O’Berry were arrested on one count of fraud and money laundering to help pay for luxury items. Apparently, they used the money to purchase many things including a boat, 2020 Jeep Wrangler, and a $220,000 house that was bought in cash.
She also traveled internationally “which may or may not have been related to her change in appearance,” Sheriff Nienhuis said.
