Clearwater Woman Accused Of Renting Out Home She Didn’t Own

A Clearwater woman was arrested after she was caught renting a house that she didn’t own!

The renter named Karey Whitfield said she “signed the lease agreement” and handed the woman a check for “deposit and my first month’s rent.”

During the signing she did something very smart that would prove to be a key piece of evidence! She “took a picture” of the renter’s “ID just in case.”

It ended up working and police arrested Ewelina Drozd who had several ads on social media showing off one of the houses she had for rent. Now she’s a charge of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.

Detectives are now looking into the possibility that there could be several victims that she swindled.
