Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Connor Flashes Badge To Get Out Of Traffic Stop
The Tampa Chief of Police has issued an apology after she flashed her badge to get out of a traffic stop in Pinellas County two weeks ago. Police Chief Mary O’Connor and her spouse were pulled over on Nov. 12 in a golf cart without a license plate. She then asked the deputy if his body-cam was on which he responded, “It is.”

O’Connor then flashed her law enforcement badge and stated, “I’m the police chief in Tampa” and asked to be let go. That’s when the deputy let the couple off as she responded, “If you ever need anything, call me, seriously.”
Since then, Chief O’Conner has apologized for the event saying, “I have expressed great remorse to the Mayor, and I apologize to the residents of Tampa who have a reasonable expectation of better judgment from their chief of police.”
