This Popular Tampa Radio Host Just Announced He’s Leaving
Popular Tampa radio host Davy Rolando from ‘Orlando and The Freakshow’ has decided it’s time for him to leave. He’s worked in the building since 2007, and has called the radio station his home since then. He wanted to write something special for anyone who’s ever listened to him onair because this was a difficult decision to make.
A letter from Davy Rolando:
From the moment I started as an unpaid intern, it always felt like a privilege and an honor to be here. I had a dream to be onair, every day, and for the past 10 years you have allowed me to do that. This has truly been the experience of a life and I hope to never take it for granted. But like all good things, this now has come to an end for me. I am stepping down from Orlando and The Freakshow.
I am so grateful to each and every single one of you that listen to us. Every person that I’ve gotten to meet throughout the years, it’s been truly humbling that you cared about me. I’ve gotten to speak at your kids schools, DJ your weddings, I’ve had strangers treat me like family. We have laughed, cried, celebrated, mourned, and grown together. This has truly meant the world to me. I’ll never forget the amount self doubt that I had when I started the morning show.I didn’t think I’d be good enough, that I was funny, or that people would even like me. But you all quickly made me feel like I was enough. And I love you for that. A little over 3 years ago, I opened up a tattoo shop which has consumed me. I now have 9 full time employees and a partner who deserve my undivided attention. It’s time for me to go all in and bet on myself.
To The Freakshow:
To Meredith, you have been a pleasure to work with. Every morning your in a positive upbeat mood. You can take a joke, you don’t take yourself too seriously, and your great at your job. I feel like I’ve made a friend for life. Orlando, you’ve been my boss for the entire rollercoaster ride. Even though you can be tough on us at times, you’ve proven over and over again that’ll you’ll go to bat for your people. As a homie, as a man, and as a father I feel like your A1, a real stand up guy and a living legend in this radio game. Lastly, I want to say thank you for allowing me to do this, most radio people don’t have the opportunity to say goodbye and definitely isn’t lost on me. I am leaving here a much better person than I was when I started.
