This Florida City Is The Worst For Retail Theft In America
You might have seen all the crazy retail theft videos on social media. Retail crime has been on the rise in the U.S. for a while now and some major retailers are closing certain areas because of it. The locations in America especially the ones that are hit the hardest by the organized retail crime include one city in Florida. Some will be obvious but to have Florida on the list is semi-shocking.
Which Florida City Is The Worst For Retail Theft:
The National Retail Federation which is the world’s largest retail trade association said this year is super concerning with the level of theft going up. According to the NRF who just released their analytics reports, “Insights from 177 retail brands, which accounted for $1.6 trillion of annual retail sales in 2022 and represent more than 97,000 retail locations across the U.S.”
In the industry, they call retail loss ‘shrink’ and are reporting a 1.6 % loss. Last year alone it added up to a total loss of $112.1 billion. Surprisingly that’s up from 1.4% in the previous year. The largest part of shrinkage that many retailers are seeing is from products taken during organized shoplifting incidents. You might be thinking, what is organized retail crime? It’s defined as theft activity often with multiple people to illegally obtained merchandise, cash for financial gain. This is the fifth consecutive year that Los Angeles has topped out the list after overtaking New York City in 2018.
The cities most impacted by retail theft last year were:
- Los Angeles, California
- Oakland/San Francisco, California
- Houston, Texas
- New York City, New York
- Denver, Colorado; Miami, Florida
Here Is The Most Roach-Infested City In Florida
When it comes to roaches, I like calling them Palmetto bugs. Sounds classier right? If you live in Florida you have seen many roaches, but what city is the most infested? I live in St. Petersburg and it did not make this list. “Here is the most roach-infested city in Florida.” Can you guess the city? You will see below.
If you have roaches does it mean your home is dirty?
According to the National Pesticide Information Center, “Finding roaches is not a sign that your house is dirty. Even if you clean regularly and maintain a tidy home, cockroaches can usually find food and water without much trouble. This allows them to thrive in many environments.”
Roaches have been on this earth for over 200 years. The common cockroach can survive forces up to 900 times greater than its own body weight. Roaches can also squeeze through openings. On top of all of this their reproduction abilities, are very quick. These are all the reasons roaches are hard to eliminate. Roach infestations are most common in summer months because they thrive in hot temperatures!
Funny Roach story
I once went to a guy’s house and woke up to a roach in my wig. I felt so dirty! He apologized but at that point, I was already disgusted. His house was actually not dirty, so I don’t know why there was a roach in my wig.
Have you ever been in a situation like this? Is a person having roaches in their home a deal breaker? I want to hear your stories! Feel free to email me [email protected]. As you read above, someone having roaches in their home doesn’t necessarily mean their house is dirty.
Below are the 5 most roach-infested cities in the United States. The results below are based on a survey done by the American Housing Association.
