Jelly Roll’s Powerful Speech To Senate About America’s Fentanyl Problem:
His speech was extremely powerful and moving especially since it was coming from a personal perspective. He talked about his own experience with not only selling drugs back in the day but also making it himself. The Fentanyl issue has taken over the U.S. and is killing 22 teens a week on average. Many drugs that used to be safe back in the day are actually laced now days with Fentanyl. What used to be safe, like smoking a blunt or joint can now kill you. Most young people don’t think about the negative affects of taking a simple pill or smoking but they can have long lasting affects.
During his speech, the Grammy-nominated musician talked about his own struggles with addiction. He opened up about his journey and how his daughter’s mother is also an addict. Jelly Roll explained that he wants to use his past as a drug dealer to now “be a part of the solution.” He urged the Senate to listen and pass the FEND Off Fentanyl Act.
