Why Are There So Many Vacant Restaurants On Howard Avenue?
Hyde Park is on the list of the most desirable places to live in the country. So, it’s shocking to see so many vacant restaurants still in the area. It wasn’t long ago that Howard Avenue, located in South Tampa was the ‘must go-to’ area for night life. The area it’s self is still pretty busy but now they have competitors. Water Street, located downtown Tampa has developed at a rapid pace it seems, maybe, Howard Avenue has been left behind.
Why Are There So Many Vacant Restaurants On Howard Avenue In Tampa:
If you drive down Howard Avenue from Bayshore you’ll see it’s still a busy area. There are many condos, houses and people always around headed to walk on the famous Bayshore sidewalk. That being said, if you keep driving you’ll notice many restaurants and areas that are completely vacant. Rainbow Food Mart was a perfect convenient store, where you could pick up some food or nice bottle of wine. Has been closed for a while now with nothing else moving in that spot. It sits there as a boarded up old store that looks more eerie every day that goes by.
Then there’s the old Cooper’s Fish restaurant that closed years ago and still sits empty with no new restaurant moving inside for a while now. Although that property is owned and not leased it’s still strange as to why nothing has moved inside for such a long time. Luckily the building was recently purchased by a steak house out of Orlando which will likely have prices that might make Bern’s look like a bargain.
There could be many reasons for these vacant buildings, including inflation, high interest rates and soaring rent costs. With Tampa still being a highly sought after location we’re only hoping these now vacant locations will soon fill up with something people love. Maybe one day Tampa will become more affordable one day. Until then you might see more vacant properties in the future.
These Are the Most Dangerous Cities in America
It’s always interesting to see which cities are considered safe and dangerous in the US. It can also be helpful if you’re planning a big move. Now, there’s a new study out that pinpoints the most dangerous cities in America.
The new study comes from Noradarealestate.com. In it, they say, “From gang violence to high levels of property crime, these cities have earned their spots on the list.” Yikes.
Before we get to the crime in each region of the country, let’s look at some of the No. 1s in this study. According to Noradarealestate.com, the “FBI’s most dangerous city” in the West is Stockton, California. In the Midwest, it’s St. Louis, Missouri. Then, in the South, it’s Baltimore, Maryland; and in the Northeast, it’s Hartford, Connecticut. Noradarealestate.com notes that even though these cities are dangerous in the report, “each of these cities has also demonstrated resilience and a commitment to addressing these issues through various initiatives and collaborative efforts. By focusing on community engagement, comprehensive strategies, and investment in socio-economic development, these cities can work towards creating safer, more inclusive, and prosperous communities for all residents.” So, it’s not all dismal. There is definitely hope.
So, what’s the most dangerous city in America? Detroit. “The violent crime index, encompassing homicides, robberies, and aggravated assaults, is alarmingly high,” the study states. “The prevalence of guns and gang activity further exacerbates the issue, making Detroit a concerning place in terms of personal safety.” That said, I love Detroit, and even though it’s good to see which cities are trending up and down in terms of crime, remember that every city has its good and bad areas.
