Florida Doctors Pull Out 150 Live Parasites From Man’s Nose
A Jacksonville, Florida man was left in shock after doctors extracted 150 live parasites from his nose. According to WFLA, the patient went to a local hospital after he was experiencing severe pain and multiple nose bleeds. When doctors examined his nose, they noticed something wiggling around inside. The man said, “Over a couple hours my face just started swelling, my lips swelled, I could hardly talk. My whole face felt like it was on fire.” What the doctors discovered next was mind blowing!
Florida Doctors Pull Out 150 Live Parasites From Man’s Nose:
Dr. David Carlson, who was the on-call ENT at the time, looked up the patient’s nose and saw something moving inside the nasal cavity. He needed to get a closer look to see what was going on, so he got a camera to look inside. That’s when the doctor found dozens of living pests sitting inside his nose! The doctor said the parasites were living in the man’s sinuses just feeding off of him. There were multiple sizes of the larva but the largest were the size of a pinky. Dr. Carlson said, “I knew he was in big trouble, there was erosion that was occurring near the skull base in very close proximity to his eye and his brain.”
He had this issue for such a long time that the larvae burrowed itself into other tissues inside his head. They had to pull out 150 of these creatures out of the patient’s head with different methods. Dr. Carlson said the parasites were against his skull, right under the brain. If the patient had not gone to the hospital and kept dealing with the pain, they would have killed him. The man most likely had a compromised immune system after getting a tumor removed over 30 years ago. This situation is so rare that the doctor had never seen anything like it in person. As a matter of fact, it hasn’t been documented in the United States. The patient thinks he got it from handling dead fish.
