Florida Men Caught On Camera Attempting To Kill A Man

This story hits close to home because it happened outside of Secrets, which is a Gentlemen’s club that I frequent. Secrets is located in Tampa and is about 30 minutes from where I live in St. Petersburg. Police say two men were caught on surveillance camera attempting to kill a man who was sitting in a parked car outside of the club.

Hillsborough county sheriff’s say they heard gunshots coming from Secrets at about 1:53 a.m. Monday morning. When they arrived to the club, they saw a white SUV speeding out of the parking lot. They tried to stop them, but could not.

Thankfully police were able to apprehend  the suspects after they boxed them in. One of the men got out and tried to escape on foot but was caught. Kenneth Jackson and Jafet Rodriguez have both been arrested. Rodriguez has been name as the alleged shooter.

Hillsborough county Sheriff’s say the victim is Joar Michel who was found shot in the shoulder. Security footage shows the suspects  getting out of their SUV in front of the club. Rodriguez can then be seen firing shots into the car where Michel was sitting.

Sheriff Chad Chronister released a statement saying:

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will not stand for any form of violence in our community. These two individuals will be held accountable for their reckless and violent actions, Our deputies and law enforcement partners showcased remarkable skill and teamwork in arresting these perpetrators. Let the message be clear: anyone who believes they can bring violence into our community will meet the full force of the law.”

Tampa Men Arrested

Rodriguez has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. Jackson was charged with fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer without violence and driving without a valid license.

Which Florida City Made The List With Highest Murder Rates In U.S.

There’s lots to love about the Sunshine State, but we’re also notorious for the craziest crimes. One Florida city even ranked in the top 15 for highest murder rates in America. It’s not really a list we love to see Florida on, but we can’t say we’re not surprised with all the insane stuff that happens here.

Our friends at neighboorhoodscout.com ranked the top 30 cities in the country with the highest murder rates per 1,000 residents. They condensed their research by including cities with 25,000 or more people. They collected their data by the number of murders reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and the population of each city. The city population data comes straight from the US Bureau of the Census at the time of each analysis. For instance, the 2022 list population uses 2020 population figures. The 2021 list uses 2019 figures, and so forth.

There were 14 new cities making the list this year. “The newcomer on this list with the highest murder rate is Saginaw, MI. The number of murders in Saginaw more than doubled from the previous year.” Thankfully (and surprisingly) only one Florida city was ranked in the research.
