New Scam Could Cost You Hundreds
In an opportunity that’s already attracted hundreds of people, you can earn $650 a week for simply displaying a company logo on the side of your vehicle.
The problem is the offer is a scam.
Law enforcement officials are warning consumers about the phone-solicited con, which actually ends up costing each unsuspecting taker hundreds of dollars. The company, which usually positions itself as a marketer for Red Bull energy drinks, sends each new employ a check as promised.
However, the check, which is written for more than the promised amount, comes with instructions to mail the over payment back to the company. Once the bank discovers the check is fraudulent, the victim becomes liable for the amount that was spent.
A Red Bull spokesman confirms the company is not hiring drivers to promote its brand, noting, “Our logo is not available to the public.”
