Even With New Florida Law, Pinellas County Bans Personal Fireworks For July 4th
Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, signed into law that Florida residents can legally fire off fireworks on three days in the calendar year. Those days are New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and July 4th. Even with the Florida law in place Pinellas County has told residents that fireworks are not legal in the county without the proper permits.
A Pinellas County new release says, “A new state law allowing the purchase of fireworks for use on three holidays does not supersede local regulations.” The law the Governor signed does say it won’t “supersede any local governmental regulation relating to the use of fireworks.”
Florida law defines fireworks as those that explode or leave the ground.
Last April, Gov. DeSantis signed a law that made it legal to shoot off fireworks on July 4. Not so fast, Pinellas County says. https://t.co/cFWclf7P97
