This Florida City Is Top 5 For Human Trafficking In The U.S.
It is very disheartening to see that there is a Florida city that is top 5 for Human Trafficking in The U.S.. Do you know what city it is? I’m in St.Petersburg but do go to this city to vacation sometimes.
According to the U.S. Department of State, 27.6 million people are victims of human trafficking worldwide. Human Trafficking has risen by 12% between 2016 and 2021. It has risen so much that human trafficking ranks at $150 billion in profits every year.
How was this list determined?
Insider Monkey came out with this list by using statistics from the National Human Trafficking Hotline. This hotline reported on the years between 2017-2016. Insider Monkey is assuming the statistics haven’t drastically changed. They have calculated the crime rate for the top cities using the latest population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. The crime rate is calculated by dividing the number of cases by population.
Human Trafficking Story
I was almost a victim. I answered an ad for a secretary job down in Fort Myers. Before I went and met up with the man, I talked to him on FaceTime. It just all seemed very sketchy and I’m glad I did not go.
I’m glad I used my intuition because that same man was arrested for human/sex trafficking. There are signs and you have to be aware. Ladies are not the only victims, children and men are as well. If you are aware or suspicious of human trafficking going on in your area please call 888-373-7888
If you have ever been a victim of sex trafficking, I would like to hear your story. It’s important that other people are aware and these stories could possibly help them avoid being a victim. Email me at Babs@wild941.com
Below are the top 5 Human Trafficking cities in the United States. Before looking below can you guess which Florida City made this list?
