Special Needs Student Gets Charged As Adult For Assaulting Teacher
A Florida high school student with special needs was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his teacher. The student lost it on the teaching assistant after she took away his Nintendo Switch. Because of the brutal attack, prosecutors are charging the 17 year-old Matanzas High School student as an adult.
A NBC affiliate, WESH, obtained surveillance footage of the assault. In the video you can see the teacher walk out of the classroom with his switch and the student running out after her. The 6’8″, 270 pound teen almost blindsided her and pushed her so hard she went flying. The student then continues to attack the teacher, he kicked her multiple times and then jumped on top of her and started throwing punches. The teacher was not even able to defend herself since she was knocked unconscious. But that’s not all.. Video also shows the teen spit towards the victim twice and screamed at her as he was being pulled out of the school in handcuffs.
The 17-year-old is now being held in the Flagler County jail on a $1 million bond. The victim was hospitalized but is now recovering at home. There is a GoFundMe page set up to help the victim with medical costs.
