VIDEO: Umpire Attacked At High School Baseball Game In Florida
Parents are taking youth sports way to serious!! An umpire was punched in the back of the head at a High School baseball game in Kissimmee. On April 18th, Sheriff Marco Lopez of the Osceola County Sheriff’s office said deputies were called out to Liberty High School for a disturbance.
According to WESH 2, investigators determined Jorge Aponte Gonzalez punched the high school umpire, who happens to be a 63-year-old and a disabled veteran.
“This umpire is a 63-year-old man. He’s a veteran. A United States military veteran. He’s a disabled veteran. OK? He does this because he has a passion for baseball and he likes to give back to his community and he loves to dedicate his time to baseball and to kids,” Lopez said.
In the video below you can see parents and players visibly upset over the attack.
