Orlando Attraction Getting Torn Down After Death Of Teen
On Thursday, Orlando Slingshot confirmed that The Orlando FreeFall ride will be torn down. The ride, which is located at ICON Park in Orlando, has been closed since the tragic death of Tyre Sampson in March. Sampson, 14 died on March 24th after falling from the ride halfway down the 400-foot drop.
The decision to take down the 430-foot-tall Orlando FreeFall tower and ride at ICON Park outside Orlando was made because of Tyre Sampson’s March 24 death, the operator said in an online statement: https://t.co/vZFgX5h24I

A statement from Orlando Slingshot said, “We are devastated by Tyre’s death. We have listened to the wishes of Tyre’s family and the community, and have made the decision to take down the FreeFall.”
ICON Park also issued a statement saying,
“The Orlando Slingshot leases land from ICON Park, which supports the decision to take down the ride. Tyre’s death is a tragedy that we will never forget.” [Source: WFLA]
