Graduating Class of 2023: Wacky Advice From Tampa Bay
Graduating class of 2023: wacky advice from Tampa Bay may come in handy as you take these next steps. From our room, and throughout the Bay, we’ve all walked that commencement stage. The nervousness of the unknown plays a big part. Therefore we all want you to have the best advice to start on this path. Davy, Meredith and myself aren’t refrying beans and sharing old tips. For the graduating class of 2023, this advice is a very 2.0 version from us and Tampa Bay.
Every year we do a series of commencement speeches, usually trying to get our best Chadwick Boseman send off going. If you’ve never seen his 2018 Howard University address, I’d suggest tapping his name above. Keep in mind, the actor was secretly dying and still willing to lead and inspire. This is what graduation is about. Your tribe surrounding you with love, support and light to shine on your future steps. Our listeners understood the assignment and wanted to share, so tap in above and pass along to your grads.
Sometimes you can hear things a lot clearer when the delivery comes from a person far away from your everyday. Work hard, eat your vitamins, say your prayers, are all great from Hulk Hogan, those are key. The audience leaned on things you need to carry from credit to condoms. However they’re wrapped up in a lot of care. Ultimately we want our graduating class of 2023 to succeed and supersede all expectations. Congratulations from Orlando and the Freakshow, your tribe of listeners and WiLD 94-1!
Best Cities For Grads To Start a Career
Tampa parents have commencement on the brain so the best cities for grads to start a career is a worthwhile conversation. Let’s face it a cap and gown will make mom and dad tear up every time. However if you have a career, fresh out of college, both parents will cry like newborn babies. I was always told “a job is good but a career is great!” A job is what you’re doing but a career is what you do.
WalletHub, a personal finance site, did an extensive search covering the best of 182 cities to begin your employment. The site analyzed over 20 metrics divided into 2 categories. Profession opportunities and quality of life! Factors such as starting salary, rate of unemployment, and embrace of entrepreneurial spirit fueled one category. The latter leaned on housing prices, projected population increase, commute times, and median yearly income for the reported scores.
Based in Miami, the site had to add their city on the list. Yet, there are other southern cities who offer much more opportunity for new work force. It’s not a shock that zero state tax, in our state of Florida is a big point for us finding the most slots on the list. Distinguished class of 2023, may we present your best cities for grads to start a career.
Orlando Davis is host of “Orlando and the Freakshow” on WiLD 94-1. He has been with the station for the past 26 years and is the station's award-winning Program Director of the year numerous times, as well as other titles. Working closely with record labels and artists, a lot of Orlando's content comes from those conversations and access. However, helming the Bay's craziest morning show makes way for lots of local influence in what he brings to the WiLD content team. Inside and outside of the studio, O is never shy to share.
