Freakshow Trains With Tampa Police Department
The Freakshow joined the Tampa Police Department to train and had an amazing experience! They met with the new Tampa Police Chef Bercaw, who was sworn in just hours earlier. It’s important for the Tampa Police Department to train and pass these obstacles every year. Orlando and Meredith ran their obstacle course, and also experienced a ride along during pit maneuvers and mock pursuits. A pit maneuver is defined as a pursuit tactic used against a fleeing vehicle to stop the driver quickly. It’s where the car turns sideways abruptly, causing the driver to lose control and stop. Meredith and Orlando got to sit in the vehicles while they spun out which was exhilarating and fun. Lastly, they went into the simulation room for their “shoot-don’t shoot” scenarios.
As you’re already aware, police officers often encounter dangerous situations and rely on their ability to identify threats quickly. Practical experience and targeted training is important to rehearse to improve threat detection time and decision-making performance. One of the most important situations was the de-escalation tactics. This includes talking to the suspect by using non-aggressive tone or mean language, body posture and more.
