Dunedin Homeowner Fired 30 AR-15 Rounds At Pool Cleaner Doing His Job
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Karl Polek, 33, went to a home located in Dunedin, Florida to service their pool as normal. Polek who works at Bay Area Pool Techs was cleaning up the pool deck and water when he heard shots fired. In the video below, Polek is moving things around on their deck and cleaning the pool water. The problem is, he was there after sunset making the owners nervous. In the middle of summer, the sun usually goes down around 8:30pm and he was there at 9pm cleaning. That when the husband fired 30 AR-15 rounds at the pool tech!
What happened:
In the report, the homeowners said they tried to tell Polek to leave several times but he ignored them. The homeowners named Bradley Hocevar, 57, and Jana Hocevar, 43, heard noise coming from their pool lanai but didn’t recognize who was outside. After telling him to leave many times the husband decided to retrieve his rifle from their bedroom. They both noticed a flashlight coming towards the door and that’s when Bradley decided to fire two rounds. You can see Polek on video running away quickly after hearing the shots go off. The husband fired 30 AR-15 rounds at the pool tech.
Polek was taken to the hospital with minor injuries from the incident. He had shrapnel from one of the bullets and glass struck after running away from the area. Even after running away, Bradley still fired several more rounds toward the lanai. During a press conference, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said, “In hindsight, he should have probably let them know he was coming at 9 o’clock at night, yet he made no effort to contact them at all.” So far, Bradley will not be charged for the incident because he was acting within the law when he fired his rifle.
