With 4/20 coming up this weekend you can bet there are going to be a lot of people looking for some food. Sure you can go out to a restaurant, but something tells me you are going to want to be in the comfort of your own home. Your eyes may be a little too red to be out in public. Which brings us to the next problem. You don’t really know what you want to eat. That’s why I always end up at the gas station. It’s the perfect place when you can’t make a decision. It’s a one-stop shop for snacks and food alike. So here’s my list of the best gas stations if you have the munchies.

7 – Eleven

Come on, who doesn’t want a Slurpee? They are also known for their hot dogs and tornadoes, but my favorite is the 10 mini-tacos for $2.59. The best part above all though, is that most 7-Eleven are 24 hours. They’re also giving 150 lucky winners a year’s worth of concert tickets if you need more of an incentive.

Chevron @ 900 W. Kennedy Blvd

This one I hold near and dear to my heart from back in my days at the University of Tampa. Not only do they have all the munchies you need, but they also have a Chester’s Chicken inside! So grab all the junk food you need or get a proper meal with some decent chicken. Either way, this Chevron will hit the spot.

Racetrack

It’s all about the breakfast sandwiches for me here. The sausage egg and cheese biscuit is my usual, but lately, I’ve craving their ham, egg, and cheese croissant. No matter what I choose, best believe I’m always leaving with a slushie.

Circle K

All of my people who love coffee will appreciate this entry. You will actually be impressed to know Circle K’s Coffee won a Golden Bean Bronze medal and a Superior Taste award from the International Taste Institute in 2023. If coffee isn’t your thing, you can always try a Polar Pop.

Wawa

The best place for food in my opinion. Along with all the junk food, Wawa has a whole hot food menu to choose from. You can choose anything from soups, sandwiches, bowls of mac and much more. They also have a variety of tasty dessert treats, but my favorite has to be the Oreo Parfait. Get that with a Tripletta sandwich and you have the Richie Special. Thank me later

Here Are The Cheapest Places To Eat In The Tampa Bay Area

Let’s be real, inflation has hit us all. And between working more hours, and the cost of food/living, sometimes you don’t have it in you to cook a whole meal. We saw a recent thread on Reddit about the cheapest places to eat in the  Tampa Bay area. We thought we would share the 5 best options.

Shoutout to the Reddit user fabricbandaids who asked this question a few days ago. The thread has over 150 comments with many options on where to find cheap meals or restaurants. Someone suggested buying a whole pub sub on sale with instructions to leave it uncut. When you get home cut it into 3-4 portions instead. Or you can politely ask to get your veggies in a bag, and they can be used to cook a meal later on. Keep in mind you’re still paying about $8 for the sub. Remember when a pub sub sale meant it was $5.99? Those were the good days.

Another tip that was suggested is to take advantage of the BOGO deals on Uber Eats. Bonus if you have a Capitol One credit card, you get a free Uber Eats subscription (which means no delivery fee), 10% cash back, and 40% off coupons regularly. You can also try downloading the Too Good To Go app for some amazing deals!

Cooking At Home vs. Going Out

Obviously one of the best ways to save money for your meals is to cook at home. Many Reddit users say they saved a bunch on Kroger delivery rather than shopping at Publix. Personally, I do all my shopping at Aldi and Costco. This brings us to that classic $1.50 hot dog and soda meal and $5 rotisserie chicken, you can’t beat that deal. According to U.S. News, it is “hands down” cheaper to cook at home rather than seek out fast food. But it’s all about how you shop. Make sure you only buy perishables that you have plans for, buy fruits only in season, or frozen fruits/veggies, and don’t stray away from store brands.

  • Blanquitas

    The OP for this Reddit thread started off by saying the head to Blanquitas on Howard every Tuesday and Thursday for $2 tacos. Even if you have the munchies, 5 tacos is only $10.

  • Ikea

    Okay hear us out on this one… Ikea might be one of the best hacks for a cheap hot meal. They offer a hot dinner for $3.99 on Tuesdays, and other daily deals like 50% off entrées every Friday! You may need an Ikea family membership, but it is free to sign up.

  • Luv Child

    Be sure to stop at Luv Child for happy hour from 3p-6:30p. They have $5 nachos and grande quesadilla that is super filling!

  • Hot Rocks Pizza

    Hot Rocks Pizza is an underrated Tampa pizza spot. Not only do they have weekly specials, but they also have a lunch deal with a 2 slice/drink combo for less than $8. They also have specials that change weekly like BOGO calzones and stombolis or BOGO large 1-topping pizza. Click here for more info.

  • Latin Fresh Market

    Latin Fresh Market located at 4349 Gunn Highway, Tampa has awesome deals on fresh produce and meats. Plus they have a huge $7 cuban sandwich that is delicious.
