I was shocked when I heard about this story. “Tampa pimp arrested for running prostitution rings out of barbershops and massage parlors.” I live in St. Petersburg which is in the area and I was wondering if this is the barbershop that my ex used to go to. According to the The Florida Department Of Law Enforcement, Lisa Payne has been accused of luring women from Venezuela and Colombia and then forcing them into prostitution.

Lisa Payne has been accused of forcing women into prostitution to repay a debt. According to Fox News 13, she lured these women from Venezuela and Colombia. The prostitution rings were ran out of massage parlors and barbershops in two counties. Law enforcement tell us they have investigated Payne since 2021. They investigated 2 locations in Manatee county and 2 locations in Hillsborough County. The locations were are below.

  1. 7446 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
  2. 8907 Regents Pk. Dr. #339, Tampa
  3. 1417 Cortez Rd., West Brandon
  4. 3323 West Cypress St., Tampa

Police tell us they also arrested Karen McGlynn who managed jackpots Spa in Manatee County as well because she was apart of Payne’s enterprise.

Human Trafficking Is Happening In Plain Sight

Pamela Woody who is the founder of Tampa Bay Advocates Against Human Trafficking tells us that “there is a lot of bad stuff happening behind closed doors and it’s happening in plain sight.” She goes on to say that massage parlors operating late at night are a red flags. Payne would allegedly go to South America to pick up girls. She loaned the girls $40-$50K to come to American and told them they would have to pay her back by working as a a massage therapist at her spa. One of the survivors says she had no idea what she would really have to do to pay back that money.

Investigators watched men frequent these establishments at all hours of the day. The men paid $220 for a massage and sex with the attendants. Back in July of 2023 one of the workers actually called for 911 for help but when they arrived she was gone. Investigators said Payne pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars off of sex trafficking women. She’s facing RICO charges along with a half dozen other charges.

These Are the Most Dangerous Cities in America

It’s always interesting to see which cities are considered safe and dangerous in the US. It can also be helpful if you’re planning a big move. Now, there’s a new study out that pinpoints the most dangerous cities in America.

The new study comes from Noradarealestate.com. In it, they say, “From gang violence to high levels of property crime, these cities have earned their spots on the list.” Yikes.

Before we get to the crime in each region of the country, let’s look at some of the No. 1s in this study. According to Noradarealestate.com, the “FBI’s most dangerous city” in the West is Stockton, California. In the Midwest, it’s St. Louis, Missouri. Then, in the South, it’s Baltimore, Maryland; and in the Northeast, it’s Hartford, Connecticut. Noradarealestate.com notes that even though these cities are dangerous in the report, “each of these cities has also demonstrated resilience and a commitment to addressing these issues through various initiatives and collaborative efforts. By focusing on community engagement, comprehensive strategies, and investment in socio-economic development, these cities can work towards creating safer, more inclusive, and prosperous communities for all residents.” So, it’s not all dismal. There is definitely hope.

So, what’s the most dangerous city in America? Detroit. “The violent crime index, encompassing homicides, robberies, and aggravated assaults, is alarmingly high,” the study states. “The prevalence of guns and gang activity further exacerbates the issue, making Detroit a concerning place in terms of personal safety.” That said, I love Detroit, and even though it’s good to see which cities are trending up and down in terms of crime, remember that every city has its good and bad areas.
