Boaters Discover $1 Million Of Cocaine Off Florida Keys
What would you do if you were out on your boat, enjoying the beautiful weather and found a $1 million of cocaine? Well, that’s exactly what happened the other day in the lovely Florida Keys! Recreational boaters were out on the water partying when several strange packages floated up next to them. That’s when they discovered it was a large amount of cocaine off Florida Keys.
Boaters Discover $1 Million Of Cocaine Off Florida Keys:
When the boaters found the cocaine floating in the ocean off the Florida Keys they weren’t sure exactly what it was at first. According to WFLA, “Samuel Briggs II, the acting chief patrol agent of the U.S. Border Patrol, wrote about the find in a social media post on X. Briggs posted video Monday night showing the wrapped packages of cocaine being wheeled away on a cart.” They went on to thank the good Samaritans for turning in the drugs instead of trying to sell it or use it themselves.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the boaters intercepted 21 individually wrapped kilograms of suspected cocaine. Each one of the bricks was individually wrapped and stamped with a bald eagle logo. The drugs were found about seven miles off Islamorada, Florida and turned into the police. Some commenters online were shocked to see that these boaters were smart enough to turn it in instead of flipping it. This isn’t the first-time drugs have been found in the Florida Keys.
Recently, there’s been more stories of drugs popping up all over the east coast and even the gulf. Tampa Bay’s Mayor Jane Castor was just in the Keys on vacation and coincidently found several large bricks of cocaine when out on the water. Of course, she called the local sheriff’s office and turned it in immediately, but news traveled quickly about the incident.
