Tampa Woman Offers Free Period Supplies Like Tampons And Pads
It seems like the cost of everything has gone up! Inflation is real and hitting Florida big time especially on items that are needed and not necessarily wanted. One of those important items that has gone up in price is period supplies. There are many women that can’t afford these basic items once a month. One Tampa woman took it upon herself to service the Tampa Bay area by opening a Tampa Period Pantry to provide the Bay Area with menstrual product choices.
Tampa Woman Offers Free Period Supplies:
If you’ve ever had to buy a box of tampons you know they’re not cheap. Thankfully, there’s now a free option to help cut costs on that expensive period supplies. According to WUSF, “Bree Wallace founded the first Tampa Period Pantry last summer outside the Disco Dolls Studio, a sustainable department store in the Tampa neighborhood of Seminole Heights. The pink wooden box contains items like tampons, pads, sanitary wipes and heating patches that anyone in need can take for free.” Wallace has helped open nine more locations all over the Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Her goal is to address ‘period poverty’ which is the inability to afford or access menstrual products.
The cost of a basic box of tampons is extremely high so we understand the need for a Tampa Period Pantry. It looks similar to one of the free libraries you might see in same Tampa neighborhoods. In those cases, you fill up the library with free books for kids in the neighborhood to borrow or keep. It helps promote reading at a young age and gets the entire community to help and donate. The Tampa Period Pantry has been so successful they opened up several others all over the Tampa Bay area. A fabulous idea to help those in need.
