Clearwater Police Officer Arrested For Helping Drug Traffickers:
The Clearwater Police Department narcotics detective Fredrick Lise was following investigations and surveillance of Matthew Turner and Henry Smith. He was informed of an investigation involving the two men and was given access to the police system which allowed him to place an alert in the system. Whenever there was new information on the investigation he would be notified and that’s when he would tell Turner and Smith about everything. He was caught and arrested for helping Turner and Smith get away with suspected drug trafficking. It unknown how long he was helping the duo.
Lise let them in on all their sensitive information including wiretaps used on their phone. Turner and Smith would make sure to switch phones whenever Lise would call so there would be no evidence that Lise was receiving money from the suspected drug traffickers. According to ABCActionNews Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said, “He is a corrupt cop that needs to go to prison, It’s a kick in the gut to everybody, and it’s a betrayal.” Apparently, Lise was the head of the Clearwater Police union and with the department for over 9 years. He is facing eight felony charges, including misuse of public office, unlawful disclosure of criminal information, and unlawful use of two-way communication.
