Florida Doctor Under Fire After Ignoring Screaming Patient During Colonoscopy

We literally trust doctors with our lives, so this headline is very shocking. ” Florida Doctor under fire after ignoring screaming patient during colonoscopy.” This incident happened at the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tampa which is about 40 minutes from where I live in St. Petersburg. Dr. Ishwari Prasad did not hear the patient screaming but he did not ignore him on purpose. According to reports he did not have his hearing aids in.

Florida Doctor Couldn’t Hear Screaming Patient Because He Didn’t Have His Hearing Aids In

Dr. Ishwari Prasad is now on probation due to his actions. He apparently had problems during two colonoscopy procedures that he supervised and one of them involved a screaming patient. Along with being placed on probation by the Florida Board Of Medicine, he is also required to pay a $7,500 fine. In addition, he has to take a 5 hour medical education course before August 7th of 2025 and pay $6,301 in Florida Department of Health care costs.

During both incidents the surgical team were not able to effectively communicate with Prasad because he did not have his hearing aids in. According to the complaint, Prasad “Improperly delegated” a surgical tech to do a task he should not have performed. Prasad inserted the scope before the patient was completely sedated and during the second colonoscopy the patient started screaming.

It has not been stated why Prasad did not have his hearing aids in but he is not allowed to perform any gastroenterology procedures on his own until evaluated by the University of Florida’s assessment program. He also has to perform at least 10 procedures under the supervision of a physician.

“This city has the worst drivers in Florida!” I personally think the entire state is filled with bad drivers, but there is one city that is worse than the others. I live in St. Petersburg and we did not make this list, but the city that made number one is nearby! Our car insurance rates in Florida are insane and I understand why. The roads are filled with noninsured drivers, drunk drivers, elderly drivers, out of towners and people who just don’t know how to drive! Have any idea which city has the worst drivers in Florida? I won’t tell you just yet but you will find out below.

This City Has The Worst Drivers In America

Forbes did a study and they were able to determine which city in America has the worst drivers. Fatal car accidents increased almost 10% from 2020 to 2022. More dangerous drivers are also on the road in some cities. So how were the rankings determined? Forbes compared the 50 most populated United States cities across five metrics.

  1. Number of fatal car accidents involving a distracted driver per 100k residents.
  2. The total number of fatal car accidents per 100k residents.
  3. Number of people killed in fatal crashes per 100k residents.
  4. Number of fatal car accidents involving speeding 100k residents.
  5. Number of fatal car accidents involving a drunk driver 100k residents.

So, what city ahs the worst driers in America. According to the Forbes it is Albuquerque and the study tells us that 18.11 people were killed in car accidents here. Remember these numbers are per 100k residents. Following Albuquerque is Memphis, Detroit, Tucson and Kansas city. Those are the top 5 cities that have the worst drivers in America. As you see no Florida cities made top 5 and I am surprised. We did however make the top 15.

  • Tampa

    According to Forbes, Tampa bay has the worst drivers in Florida. Even though Tampa is the number one city for having the worst drivers in Florida, they are number 10 for having the worst drivers in America. Tampa received a score of 77.13 out of 100 in this study. There are 15.42 people killed per 100k residents in Tampa.

  • Jacksonville

    According to Forbes, Jacksonville has the 2nd worst drivers in Florida. Jacksonville received a score of 71.78 out of 100. 16.23 per 100k residents were killed in fatal car accidents. Even though they are number 2 when it comes to the worst drivers in Florida, they are 14th when it comes to having the worst drivers in America.
