Winter The Dolphin, Star of ‘Dolphin Tale’ Has Passed Away In Clearwater
Our hearts are with everyone who grew to love our local celebrity, ‘Winter The Dolphin’.
The sea creature who called the Clearwater Marine Aquarium home, passed away while battling an infection.
The announcement was made this evening, that the beloved animal made famous by the film, ‘Dolphin Tale’ telling it’s story passed away in the arms of it’s caregivers at the age of 16.
The aquarium will be closed on Friday to give staff time to grieve.
With heavy hearts, CMA announced tonight that Winter the Dolphin died at approximately 8 p.m. as animal care experts from around the country worked to treat her gastrointestinal abnormality. The CMA family is devastated.
