And The New Host Of Wheel Of Fortune Is…
Last week Pat Sajak said goodbye to everyone for the last time. This may not seem like a huge deal, but we are talking about someone who has been the host of Wheel of Fortune for more than 40 years! I don’t know about you, but that is the longest relationship I’ve had with anyone that isn’t my parents. So naturally, the first question everyone asks is “Who is going to be the new host?”. Well, we finally got an answer.
The New Host of Wheel of Fortune is…
Beginning this fall, Wheel of Fortune will be hosted by none other than Ryan Seacrest! The announcement was made on Thursday with a 37-second video that included Sajak, Seacrest, and Wheel of Fortune’s long-time co-host Vanna White. The video, titled “Handoff”, serves as a passing of the baton from Sajak to Seacrest and quick look at what we can expect coming this fall.
If you didn’t know Seacrest for whatever reason, he is no rookie to hosting. Not only has he hosted American Idol, American Top 40, and On Air with Ryan Seacrest, but he also served as an executive producer. Seacrest also took over as host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve after Clark passed in 2012.
Pat Sajak Says Goodbye
In Sajak’s last episode, he said goodbye to his viewers with a 3-plus minute speech. I’m not going to write the entire speech, but I’ll give you one part I’m sure he wanted everyone to hear. Sajak said, “It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade, and I’ve always felt that the privilege came with a responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe place for family, fun, no social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing I hope, just a game, but gradually it became more than that. A place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together, along with friends and neighbors and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”
