Gamer Gets Arrested For Attempted Murder Over A Video Game
There’s a term gamers like to use when players get mad while playing video games. We call it “Raging”. Honestly, I think it’s natural for anyone to rage during a game, but some lines shouldn’t be crossed. For example, calling someone trash. Common. Smashing your controller. A bit much, but acceptable as long as you’re paying for a new one or smashing your own. However, a gamer flying to another state to threaten someone with a weapon?! Overboard. This gamer gets arrested for attempted murder by the way. OVER A VIDEO GAME!
The Bizarre Story
I’m not sure what kind of game will get you mad enough to want to attempt to murder someone, but apparently ArcheAges is one of them. This is a fantasy online game where players pursue their own adventures of exploration in a mythical world. You can also fight and eliminate other players. Which is what I’m guessing happened to Edward Kang. Something got Kang so mad, he didn’t want to kill him in the game, but instead in real life.
According to Sheriff Bill Leeper of Nassau County, the 20-year-old flew from Newark Liberty International Airport to Jacksonville International Airport to confront Zachary Dinh about an online altercation. After Kang checked into a hotel in Fernandina Beach, he went to a hardware store and bought a hammer and a flashlight. Around 2 am on Sunday morning, Kang dressed in all black, wearing gloves and a mask, and went to Dinh’s home in Fernandina Beach which he snuck into.
Once Kang entered the home through an unlocked door, he found Dinh and began attacking him with the hammer he bought from the hardware store. After hearing his cries for help, Dinh’s stepfather ran in to subdue Kang till the police arrived. Dinh was treated at a hospital for severe head wounds while Dang was sent to jail and charged with attempted second-degree murder.
What’s the craziest thing you saw someone do after losing a game?
