Hooters Closes 40 Locations In U.S. Including Tampa Bay
One of our favorite restaurants is closing many of their locations around America! Hooters just announced it is shutting down dozens of ‘underperforming’ restaurants across the country. One of them happens to be in the Tampa Bay area which is shocking since it was found in Clearwater, Florida. The chain known for it’s delicious wings is having a hard time keeping patrons coming into their restaurants. This was only rumored until it was confirmed to Nation’s Restaurant News on 40 locations in the U.S. have been shuttered.

For many residents, Hooters is a staple in our community. Seeing Hooters close down restaurants just shows you the change that happening in our economy at the moment. Hooters, which was founded in Clearwater with its original store in opening in 1983. It’s sad to see such a wonderful establishment close down after being in business for so many years. Hooters is also shutting down its South Lakeland restaurant on Florida Avenue South which appears to be ‘permanently closed’ online and has already been removed from the company’s list of locations.
According to FoxNews13, Former employees took so social media to talk about their feelings talking about the closure. The company made a statement saying, “Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores. Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances.” It’s sad to see local restaurants close down after being in business for such a long time but with inflation and cost of living you’re seeing many people cut down on extra expenses everywhere. Hooters has seen a 12% decline in the number of restaurants since 2018 so they might have seen this happening eventually.
