Florida Resident Who Won $36M From Publix Has Until Sunday To Claim The Money ! According to WFLA, the person has 5 days to claim their Mega Millions prize! They purchased the ticket from a Publix in Jacksonville! Jacksonville is about 3 hours from where I live in St. Petersburg.
The ticket which is worth $36 million was purchased for the Mega Millions drawing that happened Aug. 15th. The winner matched all of the numbers which were : 18-39-42-57-63 and Mega Ball 7.
How long does a winner have to claim their prize?
According to the Florida Lottery website, drawing winner has up to 180 to claim their prize. The cash option however must be claimed within the first 60 days after the drawing.
If the winner does not claim their prize by Sunday, they have to wait until February to claim the annuitized prize. If the money is not claimed at all the money will be returned to the Florida Lottery for the jackpot rollover series.
Did you know this?
You can remain anonymous for 90 days if you win $250K or more with the Florida lottery! This is after you claim your prize of course. After 90 days, the Florida Lottery can release your name. It’s called, “EXEMPT PURSUANT TO F.S. 24.1051.” Basically that means that the winners name was made confidential under the states law.
Hopefully this person did not lose their tickets. I hope they come forward because that would suck. Do you think this person lost the ticket, or are they just getting their affairs in order! I would say the latter because that is a lot of money.
