Florida Rapper Charged With Second Degree Murder In Ybor Shooting Case
Yes you read the headline right! “Florida rapper charged with second degree murder in Ybor shooting case.” Ybor is 36 minutes from where I live in St. Petersburg. This incident also hits close to home because I host clubs in Ybor on the weekends. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
Tyrell Phillips Will Be Held Without Bond
Tyrell Phillips is the suspected shooter and a judge has determined that he will be held without bond. The 22 year old made his first appearance in court Monday. Phillips is being charged with second degree murder.
If you’re not aware of what happened, Sunday morning on 7th Avenue in Ybor there was a shooting. A 14-year-old-boy and 22-year-old man were killed. Several other people were inured. Police say Phillips got into an argument with someone on 7th Avenue and started shooting.
Police Chief Bercaw said officers believe there were other shooters involved because there were two guns used. Apparently Phillips went up to police right after the shooting saying he feared for his life when he was approached by a group of men.
The suspect told police the fight started after he waved at a girl he knew. He then said one of the men came up to him and spat on him, and he believed he had a gun. Investigators say the surveillance video tells a different story. Police are currently combing though evidence to see who else was involved.
Philips is also a Florida rapper who goes by the name of TBY RELL. He is not a popular artist but was very much up and coming. Sad that he got himself into this incident. Cops are still investigating and if you have any information please contact the Tampa police department.
