Ybor City Strip Club Evicted And Forced To Vacate Its Building
Tampa‘s Ybor City is known for many things. Take your choice between the countless bars, Latin American eateries, historical monuments, vintage boutiques, or the family of chickens everywhere. There are many reasons the famous strip has been made famous. One thing Ybor is not famous for is its strip clubs. And with Developer Darryl Shaw’s newest efforts, it will never be. Now Shaw is evicting and forcing one Ybor City strip club to vacate its building.
Though the city of Tampa is notorious for its Gentlemen’s clubs, Ybor has been spared of the notoriety with a few exceptions. There will now be fewer strip clubs after Shaw took legal action to remove “Players Club” from one of his properties. According to court documents filed by Shaw, he terminated the club’s lease in January 2023. This gave the club 12 months notice to vacate the premises. Now that the notice has expired, An entity linked to Shaw has filed complaints against the Players Club to be removed from the 3,157-square-foot building located at 1620 E. Second Avenue.
Darryl Shaw Statement
“After receiving complaints from neighbors about late-night partying in the streets and recognizing that a strip club does not fit our vision for a family-friendly district, we exercised the termination provision in the lease,” Shaw said in a statement in Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Aside from being one of Ybor’s largest landowners, Shaw is working to revitalize Ybor City. Shaw believes 7th Avenue is too reliant on late-night bars and clubs. And that has also contributed to the rise in violence. After a Ybor shooting took 2 lives and injured 18, Shaw told Biz Journal “Ybor City needs a greater balance of residences, restaurants, shops, and other businesses that add to the unique character of the Latin Quarter”.
Do you think it’s time for Ybor to make a change? Or do you think it’s fine the way it is?
Best Tampa Strip Clubs That Open Early For The Day Crowd
Have you ever been to one of Tampa’s iconic strip clubs during the day? It’s a completely different vibe than going at night with your buddies. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it at least once. Usually, there are a lot of specials happening during the day to get more people in the door. And if you can catch the dancers between a shift break, you might be able to finesse some longer dances. If you’re brave enough for it, these are the best Tampa strip clubs open during the day for the early crowd.
Stepping into a strip club during “normal business hours” can be a bizarre parallel world. Sometimes in this case, it’s more of a chill hangout with the girls rather than “Hi, do you want a dance? No? Okay bye” that you can run into during the night shift. They are there to make their money after all. Not to mention, the crowds are way different. You won’t find a bunch of Brads and Chads crowding the stage or large groups to fight over your favorite dancer. During the day, it’s not uncommon to find businessmen on a lunch break or the club’s regulars. Both experiences have their own pros and cons. Another thing to note is there will be a greater selection of girls during the night shift (obviously), but even the 7 pm shift can still feel like the daytime.
Some iconic Tampa strip clubs didn’t make our list because well, they aren’t open during the day. One of the most popular strip clubs we left off our list because they open at 4 pm during the weekdays. But if you want to see our full list of Tampa’s best strip clubs (day or night), click here.
