Florida Man Breaks Into Page Field Airport
Bruce Plummer of Fort Myers broke into the Page Field Airport Monday and attempted to steal an airplane. He would have got away with it but he crashed it into a fence. Lee County Sheriff’s office tells us that Plummer first got into a plane but was unable to start it. He became frustrated but then decided to get into another one.
Surveillance shows that Plummer was successful at turning the second planes engine on. The plane began to move but then crashed into a pole and a fence shortly after. Reports say maintenance workers noticed the plane off the ramp in the grass. The plane had a broken left wing where it hit a light pole.
Florida Man Purchased Fireball Before Breaking Into An Airport
Police say, Bruce Plummer purchased fireball and a beef stick at the gas station before the incident. He also had on a tactical vest with magazines containing ammunition and an assault riffle. After he crashed the plane, he ditched the vest and guns.
Police found the vest and gun near the perimeter fence by airport police. The serial number on the gun was found to be registered to Plummer. A search warrant was issued for his home in Fort Myers and he was arrested. The owner of the plane says his aircraft has been at Page Field Airport for nine months. It was there for maintenance, He says that he did not give anyone permission to take it.
Plummer now faces charges of grand theft over $100K and possession of bulletproof vest while committing certain offenses.
