Police Say Missing Florida Teen Was Allegedly Killed By Her Mothers Boyfriend
This is absolutely devastating. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, 13-year-old Madeline Soto was allegedly killed by her mother’s boyfriend. They have not discovered the body yet but they are confident that she is dead and that her mother’s boyfriend supposedly killed her. This horrible incident happened in the Kissimmee area which is about 2 hours from where I live in St. Petersburg.
13-Year-Old Florida Girl Reported Missing
Earlier this week Madeline Soto was reported missing. At a press conference this morning Orange County Sheriff John Mina tells us that detectives believe Stephan Sterns is to blame. Sterns is Madeline’s mother’s boyfriend and he was arrested Wednesday on unrelated charges. He has also been named the prime suspect in the case.
Police say Madeline Soto was never dropped off at school Monday and was dead before then. They also believe that Sterns allegedly moved her body in the morning after killing her. Sheriff Mina says, “We believe he moved her body in those early morning hours, and all that is still under investigation.”
All evidence points to Sterns Being The Suspect
According to evidence, Sterns can be seen on video throwing away items in a dumpster at a Kissimmee apartment complex. The items were later identified as Madeline’s backpack and school supplies. Sterns can also be seen on video returning to his neighborhood with Madeline visible. Police say Madeline was dead at this time.
Police officials are currently working to find Madeline’s body. They will continue to search areas around Kissimmee. The specific areas have not been disclosed by Sheriff Mina at Friday’s press conference. Police are in contact with Madeline’s mother and have not reason to believe at this time that she is a suspect.
