Geek Culture Congress React To New Star Wars Show
The boys are back to geeking in the latest podcast with Geek Culture Congress. Speedy, Richie, Tarik, & I connect every Monday at 8:30pm to talk all things nerd with our fellow “sweaties.” In our recent episode we dive into the latest offering from Disney+ and the Star Wars Universe. Acolyte premiered two episodes last Tuesday (June 4th) and you know we had to chime in on how we felt about the new series.
The Acolyte is a fresh new story from the world of Star Wars that honestly felt like a murder mystery series. Judging by the looks of the trailer it felt like a Star Wars show I can really get into watching. The recent offerings from Star Wars have not really garnered my attention. At first, I was a huge fan of The Mandalorian series but, grew tired at the beginning of season 3 because I felt like the stories were just repeating itself. Because of that, I passed on getting into the other series like Ashoka and Andor.
I really felt like Acolyte would turn the table for me and get me back into watching Star Wars content again, and it’s a little too early to tell after watching the first two episodes. I enjoyed the appearance from The Matrix franchise star, Carrie-Ann Moss and the opening scene fight scene with her brought all the Matrix vibes that I loved from those classic movies however, her appearance was minimal after that. The series so far, feels predictable with the storyline but, think there’s still more to unfold that can hopefully be twisty. I like Lee Jung-jae’s (from Squid Games) character & Amandala Stenberg as well. It was cool to also see Dafne Keen (from the Logan movie) make an appearance.
