Rick Ross Picked The Wrong Place To Play Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”
Ever since Kendrick Lamar dropped the greatest diss track in rap history, it has taken the world by storm. You can’t escape the infectious vibe of “Not Like Us.” When you think the song has peaked and we are ready to move on from the beef that was Kendrick Vs. Drake, the song finds new life.
Last about a week ago, we witnessed an epic moment in hip-hop history with Kendrick’s The Pop-Out concert. On stage, K. Dot brought out the west coast’s finest artists of present and past, and capping the night off having everyone together on stage for a big victory lap performing the son that put the nail in the coffin for Drake in their highly publicized beef.
The beef started with the diss track from Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” record which featured Kendrick setting the fireworks off dissing Drake and J. Cole. Drake would then respond back with “Push Ups” and J. Cole would release his diss but later take it back and bow out. Suddenly a 1 vs. 1 turned into multiple people taking shots at the 6 God. Rick Ross had something to say, as he dissed Drizzy on his song called “Champagne Moments.”
Fast forward to today, “Not Like Us” is one the of the top songs in the country, killing charts and streams simultaneously. The song in heavy radio rotation and has everyone in the clubs, sporting events, and all functions screaming the words across the globe, except for Canada, don’t try playing that song in Drake’s homeland.
Rick Ross learned the hard way over the weekend. Rozay was performing at an event in Vancouver, and after his set ended, he walked off to Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” and all hell broke loose. A fan pressed Ross and his security that quickly turned into a scuffle. Ross fled the scene gracefully but, the altercation continued and left one of Ross’ security team members in bad shape, needing medial assistance. Ross has since responded with this video below.
I think for future reference, Ross knows not to play that song in Drake’s home country again.
