Method Man, Lil Yachty & More To Star In Film ‘On The Come Up’
Method Man and Lil Yachty have been cast in actress Sanaa Lathan’s directorial debut On the Come Up. The new coming-of-age rap film is based on Angie Thomas’ best-selling book, The Hate U Give. On the Come Up stars Method Man, Lil Yachty, as well as Sanna Lathan who will appear on screen in addition to directing. The story is centered around a 16-year-old girl named Bri (played by Jamila C. Gray) who dreams of being the best rapper alive. She wants to uphold her family name and do right by the legacy of her father – a local hip hop legend whose career was cut short by gang violence. The film also stars GaTa (real name Davionte Ganter), Mike Epps, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
Lil Yachty and Method Man are no strangers to the screen. Lil Boat starred in How High 2 alongside DC Young Fly who replaced the film’s original stars Method Man and Redman. Method on the other hand currently stars in STARZ’s Power Book II: Ghost and previously in EPIX’s Godfather of Harlem.
On the Come Up will premiere on Paramount + starting Friday, September 23. Take a look at the trailer below:
