Furiosa: Mad Max Movie A Must Watch In Theaters
The day is finally here. Fans of the Mad Max films, especially Fury Road are hyped to see the latest adaption to the cult classic saga, Furiosa. We first got a glimpse of Furiosa in the 2015 beloved film, Mad Max: Fury Road. The Movie starred Tom Hardy as Max and Charlize Theron as Furiosa. George Miller’s return to the franchise 9 years ago was his best work yet, as many critics gave the film high praise, and the latest film in the Mad Max saga does not disappoint either.
I had a chance to watch the movie’s early screening at Tampa’s AMC Theater on Veterans, with great Dolby surround sound and my personal favorite, the reclining chairs. I was very cozy but oh, so excited to watch this film because of the online hype that has been going on for months. I was a bit worried about how long the movie would hold my interest because it is a 2hr 30min flick! Yea, the last movie to really hold my interest for that long was Avengers: Endgame.
As soon as the lights dimmed and the opening scene appeared, it was action out the gate where we get Furiosa’s origin and the movie’s main villain, Dementus. Anya Joy-Taylor portrays our main character towards the middle of the film while Chris Hemsworth portrayed the villain. I was thoroughly impressed with Hemsworth’s performance in the “bad guy” role, he owned it and delivered. The dialogue and action sequences for great too. One scene in particular is a wild car chase down the desert that lasted a pretty long time, it was epic.
By the movie’s end I rated it a solid 8.5 out of 10. Chris Hemsworth’s performance, the story, action, and call backs to the previous Mad Max films were spot on. My only gripe was Furiosa not having much dialogue throughout the film, and at times it felt like a Dementus movie over Furiosa.
All in all, this movie is a must watch this weekend.
