Beloved USF Basketball Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim Passes Away At 43
Amir Abdur-Rahim, the head coach of the University of South Florida (USF) men’s basketball team, has passed away, leaving a huge impact on the community and the sport. Abdur-Rahim, known for his great coaching style and dedication to developing players, took the helm at USF just a year ago, bringing with him his radiant personality and a passion for the game.
Under his direction, the Bulls experienced a new sense of purpose and energy. Abdur-Rahim was not just a coach; he was a mentor who put the growth of his players both on and off the court first. During his time in USF, Abdur-Rahim got the Bulls to a school record of 25 wins, a first ever regular season conference crown and they got their first ever AP Top 25 ranking.
Before joining USF, Abdur-Rahim had a notable coaching history, including a successful stint at Kennesaw State and other various colleges. In 2023, he brought Kennesaw State to a 26-9 record and an NCAA Tournament.
