Reports Say This Pinellas County City Will Be Underwater in 35 Years
This has been a devastating year for me when it comes to hurricanes. As you know we’ve had back to back ones here in the Tampa bay area. What sucks is that we may have another one on the way. So many peoples homes were destroyed during the storms here in Pinellas County and surrounding areas. I live in St. Petersburg and Hurricane Milton caused my home to flood.
Not sure if you have seen this reports yet but experts are saying that a city in Pinellas county will be under water in 35 years! This is due to the rising sea levels, ice caps melting and hurricanes, yes the hurricanes. All these factors are contributing to the destruction of low-lying coastal areas. Experts say sea levels could rise as much as 8 feet by 2100.

According to Travel.com, St. Petersburg will be under water by 2060. Environmentalist predict that livable land on St. Pete beach will be submerged. Apparently it will rise by 99.5% by the turn of the century. How old will you be in 35 years? A lot of us will have grandkids and great grand kids. Hopefully they will be able to enjoy St. Pete beach just as much as we have, but these reports are not looking to promising for the future. Other cities in Florida that are predicted to be underwater are Fort Lauderdale, Key West and Miami.
Memories At Pinellas County Beaches
Even though reports are telling us that St. Petersburg beach could be underwater by 2060, Im hopeful that the government is being proactive and taking the proper steps to prevent this from happening. I have so many great memories there, and hopefully years form now others will be able to make memories as well. Some believe in climate change and other’s don’t. I for one am a person that does. We have to take care of the earth so that our grandkids and their kids will have a place to live. Thoughts? Feel free to email me [email protected].
