Florida Man Arrested After Uploading His Crimes On Youtube
Before I continue writing, I want to say I do not want to promote or suggest for anyone to commit a crime. However, if you are going to commit one the last thing you want is evidence of you committing them. Especially on social media. You are just asking yourself to get caught. Seems like a no-brainer, but not for Javan Gomes. This Florida man was arrested this past week for posting YouTube videos of evading police and getting away… Or so he thought.
The Story
On one Tuesday afternoon on January 23rd, Gomes was spotted in Saint Petersburg on an electric bike driving recklessly. The 24-year-old was allegedly driving into oncoming traffic, running red lights, and popping wheelies. Police attempted to stop Gomes on multiple occasions, but he would always evade them. St. Petersburg Police Sgt. Michael Schade told 10 Tampa Bay that Gomes was “Just doing very unsafe, dangerous things that could either harm himself or somebody else,” It even seemed as if Gomes would get away with everything. Until he made one mistake.
Gomes did all of this with a camera attached to his helmet. Not only did he record everything, Gomes also decided to upload the video to YouTube. The video ultimately led to Gomez getting arrested after almost 2 weeks of investigating.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained from the St. Petersburg Police Department, Gomes is now being charged with fleeing or eluding police, racing on a highway, failure to have motorcycle endorsement on driver’s license, and threatening a law enforcement officer.
