You Can Get Arrested In Florida For Trying To Withdraw 1 Cent From The Bank?
“You can get arrested In Florida for trying to withdraw 1 cent from the bank?” This incident that happened in Sumpter county was so bizarre when I first heard about it. If you don’t know where Sumpter county is, it’s about an hour and 30 minutes from where I live in St. Petersburg. So what happened? Did Michael Fleming really get arrested for allegedly withdrawing 1 cent, or is there more to the story?
Florida man Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Withdraw 1 Cent From The Bank
Reports Tell us that Michael Fleming is facing a felony robbery charge after he allegedly tried to withdraw 1 cent from a chase bank. He apparently walked into the bank and filled out a withdrawal slip and handed to the teller. After the bank teller told him he could not , Fleming became angry. What he said to the teller next is what made the teller call the police
According to the affidavit, Fleming told the teller “So you want me to say the other word?” The teller told police that they were in fear of possible violence and that’s exactly why she called them. When the police arrived Fleming was still inside of the bank and then taken into custody. As of Tuesday he was still in the Sumpter County Detention Center on a $5k bond. Not sure if he is out at this time.
What did Fleming say to the police? The conversation was redacted from the report but police say they had probable cause to believe that Fleming violated Florida’s robbery laws. In my opinion it seem as if Fleming is facing mental health issues. The incident is bizarre and i really want to know why the conversation he had with the police was taken out of the report.
