Akon Talks Bringing Positive Music Back With “Beautiful Day”
I had an exclusive interview with the multi-talented Akon, who has blessed fans with classic records like “Locked Up” and “Smack That.” After a break from making music, Akon is making a powerful return to the scene with his new single, “Beautiful Day,” a track that showcases his signature sound while giving us a breath of fresh air, with its positive energy.
Akon shared his excitement about the new record, stating, “I wanted to bring back spirituality in music.” The single, produced by my Grammy Award winning and long-time collaborator J.R. Rotem, blends those catchy Akon melodies and lyrics, that Akon has always been known for throughout his career.
As we got deeper into our conversation, Akon revealed that “Beautiful Day” is just the beginning of what’s to come from his upcoming album, Akonic. Properly titled for his storied career. The album is set to be released next year during Black History Month. He continued by saying, the album is set to feature an artist that he personally is a fan of on each song.
Akon also gave an update of the status of the city that he has been working on in Africa, which is inspired by Wakanda, the city in from Marvel’s Black Panther movie. Akon also spoke on the hit records he most proud of and songs he wishes became bigger hits from his albums. I even asked him why he hasn’t been asked to perform at a Super Bowl?
