Tampa Bay Rays Release Photo Of Proposed New Stadium
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the Tampa Bay Rays released a picture of the new Rays stadium. Sure, we’ve heard them talk about the proposed stadium in Ybor City or the proposed water front stadium in St. Pete. But, this one could be different. Why? Because the new proposal has THIS new stadium is on the Tropicana Field site. The Rays revealed some details while sharing their bid in partnership with Hines — a global real estate investor and developer firm. If the bid is chosen they say a stadium will be ready for the 2028 season.

The stadium will have a fixed roof and large glass side windows that open. The stadium’s capacity will be around 30,000 and it will have a turf field. The cost will be in excess of $1 billion and be built east of the current site.
The roof of the stadium won’t have catwalks, which is a relief, but the windows of the stadium are a nice feature. “It’s a fixed roof with operable walls,” said Rays chief development officer Melanie Lenz. “So we’re able to open the walls up and invite the community in but have a fixed roof to guarantee comfort and gain certainty (against rain being an issue).”
Stop us if you've heard this before: The Rays have a new stadium proposal. This time it's on the Tropicana Field site, and the plan is subject to the mayor choosing the team's hand-picked developer. In other words, stay tuned. #Rays #RaysUp #StPetersburg https://t.co/94PWCp9JP7

The new stadium will be built with no upper deck giving the stadium a low profile to go along with the whole redevelopment plan. Part of that is a Game Day Street area that includes shops and restaurants. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
